About Us

Who is Sunday Mom?  Jo (That’s me!) and sometimes my sister, Shelley.  We grew up with our pesky little brother in Arizona, where I met and married my husband of almost 20 years.  We lived in Hawaii before settling in small town Georgia, our home of 15 years.

I'm not originally from the south, but I have fallen in LOVE.  God, food, manners, discipline, and life in the slow lane have won me over.  Although, I have yet to conquer my fear of opening cans of biscuits.  This is the perfect place to raise a family, which we did.  We have 3 children, because that's how many you need to have our very own three-ring circus.  We are a foster family and are in the process of adopting an amazing child—because 3 rings weren’t enough.

I have decades of experience under my belt.  I have done Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, Children’s Worship Leader, Deacon, Christian Education Council, Vacation Bible School, Camp Counselor, Scout Leader, and everything else I to which I couldn’t say no.

My favorite age is preschool through 5th grade.   I suppose it is no coincidence that every 7 years I have a new baby . . . Hmmm, how old is our youngest?   You can find me every Sunday in the children’s wing of our church getting my hands dirty and spreading the Good News.

My name is not followed by an alphabet soup of degrees, like Jo, M.Div./M.A.C.E.-- I am just Jo, M.O.M.  Quite honestly, it never occurred to me to make this a career.  It has always been my hobby—something for the whole family.  Like my kids say, “When Mom volunteers for something, everyone is volunteered.”  It is my way of spreading God's Word to the littlest among us.  More importantly, I want to teach them that Jesus did not die so that they can have religion.  He died so they can have a relationship with God.  My desire is to help them grow their faith and find their own personal relationship with God.

Over the years, I have tried many commercially available materials.  The high prices always took most of my budget.  The contents never fit my needs perfectly.  I got tired of spending hundreds of dollars for material that I had to tweak and edit.  I started writing my own curriculum.  My sister and I have both authored and used everything on this website.  Actually, we wrote most of it long before the website existed.  All of the materials offered here are kid tested and Sunday Mom approved!

For years, people have been saying that I should market my programs.  I always laughed it off.  My sister, Shelley, changed my mind.  She showed me that I was looking at it from the wrong perspective.  This is the next, natural progression of my children’s ministry—helping others do what I love to do.  It is my true desire for all to hear Jesus’ call to discipleship —"to learn of me.”

It is with God’s grace and a happy heart that I jump out of the boat and into the water.

Spreading the Word of God to children can be easy, fun, and rewardingSunday school, Vacation Bible School, Children’s Worship, Christian Education Administration . . . I have done it all and have decades of experience behind me.My sister and I have both authored and used everything on this website. All of the materials offered here are kid tested and Sunday Mom approved!
